The 2022 Chevrolet Trax #13 ranking is based on its score within the Subcompact SUVs category. The 2022 Trax is available in just two trims, the LS and LT, but a new engine with more grunt promises to wake up those old bones.

Certainly not the Chevrolet Trax pedestrian styling. It’s more tall hatchback than chunky SUV, and it’s not exactly a thriller inside either. The 1.4-liter turbo-4 delivers decent go around town but can struggle at highway speeds. All-wheel drive is optional. Fuel economy is so-so for such a small SUV at 26 mpg combined with all-wheel drive. The Trax’s brakes are among the strongest in its class, and the pedal feels firm and confidence-inspiring.

The Trax comes standard with Chevy’s user-friendly Infotainment 3 system. It includes an easy-to-use touch screen, as well as smartphone connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which are options in some rivals. There are also well-organized physical controls for some functions.
